HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Also my 99th post is on the last day of 2008. I loved everything that happened in 2008, it was a first for many things. First time my parents and in-laws came out to visit me in VA, my first studio recital, the first time I made my own costume, my first time of Matt being sent on a deployment, and my first Christmas without Matt, and all of these first are the first of many. Happy New Year Everyone and may it be a better year than the previous.

He Done Good

Matt, my beautiful husband whom is always thinking of me first sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Apparently he contacted my parents a couple of weeks ago asking for their address. What a clever guy. Here are the pix of the flowers. Also when I was putting the pix of the flowers on my computer I also found the pix of Matt opening our Christmas gifts from my parents and a pix of us before he left (and about the beard, I don't like it but he says that he is getting a head start on what he was going to grow when he got there. As long as it is gone before he comes home I don't care what he does). Here are the pix.

So Long, Farewell...

Tomorrow afternoon I will be in roasty, toasty Arizona. I just hope that I can get over this darn cold in time for me to actually enjoy being back home! See everyone soon!

Wow

I can not believe that it has already been 2 weeks since Matt left. I thought that the past two weeks would crawl by but they have not. This Saturday morning, I will be on a plane to Arizona to spend 2 weeks. I am so excited to go back home to AZ. I also found out that on top of my friend Kimberly from here is going to PHX for Christmas, one of my students is as well. I plan on having lunch with both of them sometime while we are there together. I am really excited for 2 weeks off and just doing nothing and hanging out with my family. So, for those of you that I will see in AZ, see ya really soon, and for those of you that I will not see, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Be Safe

This one is for Matt:
May you be safe and sound as you are in a very dangerous place.
May you think of me often.
May you do your job well.
May you learn more about yourself and what you can do.
May you know of the love that our friends and family have for you.
May you remember that our Heavenly Father is watching out for you.
May you hear all the prayers that are being said for you.
May you know that Archer and I are being taken care of.
May you know of how much I love you and wish you were here.
Please be safe my love.
B.
*Matt left last night for his civilian deployment to Afghanistan for his 4 month deployment. Please pray for his safe return unharmed and better than he left. Thank you for all of your support and may the Lord be with you this Holiday Season and bless your family as much as He has blessed mine!*
**I just got my one call from Matt. He has arrived safely in Qatar. He will be catching his next flight to his final location on the 4th. He basicly is getting 2 days of "free days" where he doesn't have to do anything, cause he really can't. So he has already been hitting the gym there and meeting some other co-workers.**

Thanksgiving Week

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

Just wanted to give a little update on how our Thanksgiving has gone thus far. Wednesday Matt took the day off so that we could do some field hands on weapon training. Yep that's right, we now own hand guns. Weird huh. Well Matt wanted me to have training on the proper way to use a gun and also to learn self defense training with the gun. We had so much fun. It was just the 2 of us for this class. It was just a ton of fun. Here are some pix of our target. Mine is the one with the most holes in the center part, which is really really good, and the teacher was really impressed since this was my second time shooting a hand gun. Matt was really proud too, but I got to take my time shooting.

Thursday, beautiful Thursday. It was just the 2 of us. Elizabeth was on her way to drive up here on Wednesday and she got stuck in traffic for hours and was barely out of Birmingham when traffic finally got better but it was already 5 in the afternoon and it was not worth the risk for her to drive out here and get in at like 3 am so we scrapped the weekend. So Matt and I celebrated Thanksgiving by driving 40 minutes to Boston Market and pick up food and bring it back home and eat it. Yummo. It was really good. I made my famous streussel topped pumpkin pie which turned out the best I have ever made it and Matt loved it. He actually only has 2 slices left and has been eating it non stop. Here is a pix of it.

Today, Friday we woke up at 3:30am and left at 4:20 am to go to Bed Bath and Beyond to hit the amazing sale and get some items that they only have like 2 of. Bed Bath and Beyond was supposed to open at 6am but when we got there the store decided to open early at 5. I got everything that was on the list, including my new bedding set, yea!!! When Matt is leaving I will be painting the house so I got a head start on decorating. It looks amazing and I am excited for the whole project to be done with. I'll post some pix later with our room, probably when it is painted cause the curtains get lost in the wall cause they are currently the same color.

Tomorrow, Matt and I are going to see Twilight together. Yeppers I actually convinced him to see it with me so we will see what he says about it. I think he is secretly curious about the movie and really wants to go but will never admit it.

Sunday is our Primary's Sacrament program, and I am the chorister so wish our primary luck! We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Matt is leaving Monday night so remember to keep him in your prayers!

We miss and love everyone. Happy Thanksgiving!

TWILIGHT IS HERE, FINALLY

It has only been a few months from when my major OCD over Twilight started, I don't even what to think what is could have been like if I read the books when they first came out a few years ago, anyhew well the movie is finally out. So even if you haven't read the books GO SEE THE MOVIE, why because then you will want to read the books and the books are just amazing. Even Matt tried to pack my hard copy of Twilight to go with him to the Middle East. I quickly told him no and that I would buy him a paperback copy, smaller and I don't want my book to be ruined. Hope you enjoy the movie!

GO SEE THE MOVIE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!

Unreal. A Sign Of The Times

I was deeply saddened by the following news pertaining to the proposition 8 that was passed in CA on Nov 4 to make the CA Constitution define marriage between male and female. On Nov 13th the LA Temple was the center of a rally against the LDS church because of its involvement of endorsing the proposition. Interesting thing is that 52% of people in CA voted yes for prop to define it as marriage between a man and woman, and only a small amount of people in that 52% were LDS. Anyhew there are articles all over the place but I feel that it has more impact when you can see what happened. So here is a link to a youtube video.

People CAN Change...

My goodness it really can be done, people can change especially me. Today Matt and I got to spend the day together so we made a day trip to DC to pick up some supplies for his deployment for next month. Matt had me drive because he is just tired of driving all the time and he will be driving to North Carolina this Wednesday night and will be there for a few days. So we drove up through Fredericksburg and then hopped onto the 95 to go north to round out to the 495. Anyhew for those of you who don't know the people who drive on the 95 are very aggressive people, and if you are not going at least 80 mph they will run you down.

WAIT! STOP! HOLD THE TYPING! Some of you are probably saying. Most of you know my driving habits and know that I am a major lead foot driver. With my 3 speeding tickets and have been known to go 100+ from the drive from Flagstaff down to Phoenix. Yes I know I am bad, but since moving to slow-ville VA where the cops will give you a ticket for going 10 over your driving habits kind of change. I usually do not go faster than 72mph on the freeway here because I am so scared to get a ticket, which the law here is not a lenient as it is in AZ. So driving on the 95 today freaked me out because I was going over 72 mph. I was very skiddish about it. Remember the screaming Dion from Clueless as she accidental went on a LA freeway when she was practicing driving, that was pretty much me. SO I have officially realized that I can change especially my driving habits.

Random Things Going On

It has nearly been one week from the Time Change that occurred last Sunday, and I am still trying to get used to it. Funny thing. I am fine waking up a 7:30 or 8am but around 12 it feels so much later than it actually is and at night I read and don't even go to bed till about 1am. Plus staying up all night to watch the results from the election didn't help in the getting to sleep earlier part. These days feels so long to me and so relaxed it is very weird trying to get used to the time change thingy.

Also Matt would have been leaving tomorrow morning but thanks to the grace of the Almighty I get to have Thanksgiving with him. So I get an extra 3 weeks with him now. YAY! So Matt gets back tonight from training he has been at all week in Northern VA and he doesn't have to leave anymore for more than 2 days. He was going to have to do some military orders but the unit said that he didn't have to so we get to spend more time together.

Other than that everything is going great here. We have rejoined the cell phone age, but are very limited on how much we can actually talk on it, so keep calling on the home phone. I am finding more and more books to read, and enjoying them very much (I know I am 26 years old and I just re-discovered the LIBRARY, AMAZING Huh.) Matt is loving his job and is excited for the work that he will start in December because he really likes the group he will be working with. And Archer, well, he likes to sleep all the time, and in my bed none the less so he is a very happy puppy. That's all folks!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Post #2

Tonight we have out Adult Halloween Party in our neighborhood. I didn't want to get all "dolled" up tonight. wanted to be more comfortable first of all, and secondly I really wanted to dress up as a vampire from Twilight. I know I am obsessed. Well it took me even longer to get ready today than yesterday cause I had no idea on how to do my makeup to enhance my eyes or how to do my hair. I have never done my hair in this way. Needless to say it turned out pretty dang good. So I am a veggie vampire and Matt is my helpless human that fell in love with me. I will try to get a pix of both of us together sometime tonight. (In case you didn't know, I am normally a blue eyed babe, but I got special Honey colored contacts for tonight. Tell me what you think of them.) So here are more pix. (FYI our lighting in out house make me look fake in bake because we didn't use flash. See pix below.)

~This next pix is with the flash to show how pale I actually got my face.~

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Post #1

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!! Tonight I am going to post some pix from the official Halloween costume. Tonight I dressed up for my students and had a blast surprising them with what I looked like. My students who stopped by loved my costume and so did the neighborhood and all the families that came by for Trick or Treating. By the way Matt refuses to dress up for Halloween but he was my modern day Prince Charming. Archer agreed to dress up though. We even ran out of candy before all the kids were finished coming by. We ran out of 3 and a half big bags of candy.

Couple of funny stories. I was the Bell of The Ball. Little girls were in awe as they saw me and I could hear them from across the street, "Can we go to Cinderella's house?" Or I was sitting on the porch with Matt and I stood up to hand out candy and one little girl said, " Oh my, she is real." It was very cute. One little girl saw me from the sidewalk and just ran up the grass yelling, "Cinderella, Cinderella." with her arms open wide and gave me a huge bear hug, while her parents and grandmother took pictures. I also went to a local restaurant to sigh up for a costume contest and see a friend, and I was getting my pix taken for the contest and little girls started lining up to take a pix with me on the bench. I had like 6 girls sit next to me and get their pix with me and their parents said I actually looked like the "real" Cindy. Everyone was impressed that I made my costume. It was a very good night. Tomorrow we are going to an adult neighborhood party and I will be a veggie vampire with honey colored eyes and pale cold skin and Matt will be the helpless human that falls in love with me. Ring a bell anyone?

Without further delay here are some pix of my costume as the beautiful Cinderella. **One little note. I did have a little mouse named Lisa help me with the dress. If it wasn't for her the dress would not look anywhere as beautiful as it does. Thank you Lisa for helping me and teaching me how to sew.**

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS?!?

As of last night I "officially" have 26 students! That's right 26. I am so excited. I am actually going to, for the first time since I started teaching, start a waiting list. I feel so blessed right now because I had been hoping to get just a few more students, and WHAMO! In the space of 24 hours I get 3. AMAZING!

Friday is Halloween and this year I actually had a hand in creating my costume. I asked one of the parents of my students to teach me how to sew and we made my costume. I am dressing up as Cinderella. I got it last night and it looks amazing. I even have "glass slippers." There will be pix posted of the costume on Sat so look forward to them then. The dress looks so good the seamstresses at Disney would be impressed. And Sat night we have an adult party in the neighborhood and we are required to dress up. Well I am too afraid to go outside in my Cindy dress so I decided that I was going to dress up as a character from my fav book, Twilight. Super easy costume. All I had to get were honey colored contacts, easy and dress in regular clothing. Matt is going to be the helpless human that fell in love with me. He just has to wear regular clothing since he hates to dress up. I am going to draw a crescent mark on his neck though, just for fun. Anyhew I'll have pix at the end of the week!

What the Hey with the Hay?!?

It is that time of year in the subdivision where the contractors are hunkering down for the winter by putting Hay on every speck of dirt. Well this is an allergy that I learned about last year when we were here, and I think I have known it for a while cause I usually felt like crap after hay rides when I was a kid, but boy howdy my body does not like hay. This year my adverse reaction to hay has been scratching. I woke up this morning looking like I tried to strangle myself cause I have this huge scratch mark across the front of my neck that itches like a mad dog. It is so bad that I am having to cover it with makeup to try and hide it. I even had to wear a sweater to keep myself from scratching my arms and hands. Try being the word of choice as my students asked why my neck was all red. I also won't stop sneezing. Not a very fun day at the Allen House, its been my own personal Hades.

My new Fav!

I think for the first time in my life that I have a favorite band. I usually liked soundtracks so I never had a fav group growing up, but this band I love their songs and I could and have listened to them for hours. Paramore. It is a relatively new band from TN, but I love the styles of their songs. So I added a bunch of the songs to my play list, unfortunately the place I use didn't have all their songs or some of my more fav songs but maybe sometime in the future. Hope you enjoy!

Out Of The Mouth Of Babes!

I already told you how much I love this fall season. Here are a couple of more reasons why. I love the crisp feeling in the air when you wake up, and I love the fog that is rolling on the open fields just after dusk . Last night I was driving home from a lesson and there was this fog all over every open field off the side of the highway. It seriously looked like something in a movie where they used a fog machine. It was really eerie but beautiful at the same time. I love the way it looked with the moon lighting it and just how everything looked.

Also I love decorating my home. My mom and Matt say that I am "nesting" but I am really just having fun because I love this time of year when all the holidays just come one after another.

I have to tell you about one of my decorations that is getting most of the intention by all who come in my house. My mom made a quilt for me and I love it so much! The quilt is called The Witch's Wardrobe. The quilt displays everything that a witch might wear in her every day life, including bras. I was showing one of my student's mom and explaining the quilt and my student came over and said, " Why is there a bra on that?" I told her what the quilt was about and she replied," That is just silly." That's right my young performer, it is a very silly quilt and that is why I love it so much! It is defiantly a conversation starter but I love how whimsical it is, and it just fits my moms personality to a tee, (sorry mom but it is true you can be rather silly some times. LOVE YOU!) Anyhew now that I have embarrassed my mom enough here is a pix of the famed quilt. Oh another little tidbit of the quilt, there is even padding in the bras on the quilt. When my mom does a project, she does it correctly!

Ours

Well after a week of hearing this same melody in my mind and then Matt telling me that I was stupid if I didn't write it down. I have finally finished my first composition. That's right folks, I, Rebbecca Allen, have actually written a song and I just finished putting it in to my computer and it actually looks like a real song, instead of my chicken scratch writing on manuscript paper. The title has been shortened to Ours cause Matt loves it and encouraged me to actually write it down. I am not sure how to put it on the computer and I probably won't until I get it copyrighted or something just to make sure that it would be safe, cause I actually did write it and I want full credit for it. Anyhew, if you want to hear it, call me and I can play it on my piano for you as I have already done from my parents and Elizabeth. Anyhew just wanted to share the news with you to let you know what I have been up to. Hope everything is going well for everyone!

I Shall Try

Ok on Sept 11 I started reading the Twilight Series. Today being the 25th I have read through the entire series twice, including the 263 pages of Midnight Sun. I know I am crazy but I read online that the author suggested that the second book be read twice to fully understand what happens without being too bias. So I figured if I have to read that twice why not read my favorite, the first book, again, and it just kind of took off from there. So I will force myself to take a break from the series, cause I could probably read them again, but no I won't. So I will do a compromise, read a church related book and some other novel, then I will allow myself to re-read the series. I know I am crazy.

Other than that not much else is going on. Matt gets back today from training and being gone for pretty much 2 weeks. I was going crazy without him for only 2 weeks, not sure how I will handle 4 months, anyhew that's all folks.

YEA!!!

Today truly felt like the first day of my favorite season. AUTUMN!!!!! I love fall and the smells of the overly ripe fruits that have fallen to the ground, and the look of the trees as they change from beautiful green to vibrant orange, yellows and reds. I also love the "is it sweater weather yet?" question that you ask in the morning because there is a chill in the air. Well today it was a perfectly perfect day. There was a nice cool breeze in the air that was filled with the sense of Autumn. I welcome the Harvest time and all the wonderful holidays that are just around the corner.
~I also added some new tunes to listen to that are quickly becoming my favs! Enjoy! Scroll down to the bottom of the song list and it is like the last 6 songs.~

Done

I LOVED IT SO MUCH!! AND JACOB FINALLY WON ME OVER, BUT ONLY A LITTLE BIT! ~To clarify, I only liked Jacob in the end because he finally got off of Bella's back and was a FRIEND in the end. I never liked the fact of the love triangle. Edward is wayyyyyyyyyyy better in my humble opinion. Book 1 is my favorite book out of the whole saga, and I love the 263 pages of Midnight Sun, which is Twilight in Edward's perspective. You can view it here at Stephanie Meyer's website:

Scroll down to partial draft, as she said that she won't publish the actual book now because it was leaked onto the Internet early. (VERY SAD!)

Humidity Sucks!!!!

Hey everyone! Yesterday I actually took a break from reading, I know, amazing, but I kind of had to go to church. Well, I have made a couple of assessments of things that do not go well together.

Hot and Humidity are NOT the same thing, and put them together and it is even worse.

On a Hot and Humid day and there is no AC, it sucks.

Our Branch meets at the local high school. On Saturday we had a major storm roll through here and it knocked out the power in the area. Well no one remembered to reset the AC at the school until 10 minutes before church started. Outside it was already in the 80's with 75% humidity. Inside the school there were no windows to open to let any breezes in so it was very heavy and sticky for the whole 3 hours. At the end of church it looked like I had just gone swimming because my hair was soaked from sweating so much. I told the Branch Presidency that in AZ if the AC is out that school was canceled. The actually got a kick out of it since we meet at the school.

Yesterday at church I also finally had a "moment" of happiness with teaching singing time. The Jr. Primary kicked butt with singing and had a ton of fun doing it too. In Sr. primary there were only 4 of them but 1 of the boys actually sang so it was nice to have everyone finally participate.

Of Course, after church I ate and then went back to reading. I am loving the 4th book very much, but it is incredibly long!

Also a couple of weeks ago my visiting teaching partner and I had a luncheon with one of our people who is not active at all. I think we struck a very good chord with her cause she has been attending church now, and yesterday she made 2 huge helpings, like 2 9x13 size helpings of homemade Lasagna for my partner, whom she knew was having financial difficulty and was living off of food storage to get by for a family of 6. Anyhew, my partner invited me over tonight for Family night, since Matt will be out of town for training, and to enjoy some of the yummy fruits of our labors. That's really all that is going on, but I just wanted to share that last part cause that has never happened to me before, where I actually made a difference.

Man oh Man

I am now in Breaking Dawn. I will say this, Book 2 is so far my least favorite. No Edward, and I do not like Jacob. His is a big thorn is my side. See ya's all later!

On To The Next

Ok so in 24 hours I managed to finish Twilight and 24 hours after that I obtained my own copy of New Moon and have managed to complete that too. Now on to the Next one, Eclipse. This as you could tell is my weekend project. I am absolutely in love with this series. It has brought back so many memories of my first major infatuation in High School, but with out him liking me and all. Anyhew. I LOVE IT!

My Goodness

So I have had this book for about 12 hours now and I am having a very difficult time putting it down to go to sleep. I am over 300 pages into the book now and I am anxiously wanting to sleep and wake up early to start reading it again. I am so pathetic!!!! But I am totally loving the book so far!

I Am A Sheep

Ok, so I have been hearing from many people how amazing this book series is and I decided that I will join the bandwagon and start the Twilight Series. So today after getting new tires and a tune up on Daisy, I headed to Barnes and Noble and picked up my very own copy of Twilight. And many of you know that I do not read often so this is a major feat for me to actually try to get into a new series that is not Harry Potter. I'll keep you posted.

9/11

Do you remember how you felt? Or how about where you were when you found out about the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon and United 93? Do you remember how the day felt? I do. I remember being more scared than I have ever felt in my life. This day 7 years ago today was a day like no other. Everything just stood still, even when I went to class at ASU everything just felt different. Remember your feelings and don't forget to show your colors today.

6 Years of Marriage Togetherness & Birthday

6 years ago today is the day Matt's Grandpa asked me, 5 minutes before we entered the sealing room, "Are you sure, this is your last time to get out." I looked at Matt, and I said, "ummmm, I think I'll go out the door and across the hall to get married now." Matt was so embarrassed, but his Grandpa is the one who sealed us and was very proud of us. I have no idea what he said during the ceremony, but there are a couple of things I do remember. I remember who was in the sealing room with us. I also remember my knee was bouncing up and down and my mom put her hand on my knee and said, "Relax." Then finally getting sealed for Time and All Eternity with my wonderful husband, Matt. I am so happy with my life and where it has taken me. Matt and I were talking last night, we celebrated our Anniversary last night at the Cheesecake Factory, anyhew, I asked him if he had any idea that 6 years later we would be here in VA and where we are. We are both so happy with everything! So HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Babe! I love you and can't wait to see what comes in our future.

Also HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY ARCHER!!!! That's right folks Archer was born on our wedding day. Archer is getting some extra food, and some yummy treats all day long. We will have to roll him to bed tonight because he will be so fat from the extra stuff! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy Birthday Comments

My baby, The piano studio turns 1 year old today. HAPPY 1st Birthday. I can not believe that it has already been a year. I started out with 10 students the first week and now 1 year later I have 22 students. I have only lost a few and most of the kids I have now were my first ones from last year. I love teaching!

~Happy birthday to Bubba today too! My parents dog turns 9 years old today~
