So Long, Farewell...
Tomorrow afternoon I will be in roasty, toasty Arizona. I just hope that I can get over this darn cold in time for me to actually enjoy being back home! See everyone soon!

Wow
I can not believe that it has already been 2 weeks since Matt left. I thought that the past two weeks would crawl by but they have not. This Saturday morning, I will be on a plane to Arizona to spend 2 weeks. I am so excited to go back home to AZ. I also found out that on top of my friend Kimberly from here is going to PHX for Christmas, one of my students is as well. I plan on having lunch with both of them sometime while we are there together. I am really excited for 2 weeks off and just doing nothing and hanging out with my family. So, for those of you that I will see in AZ, see ya really soon, and for those of you that I will not see, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Unreal. A Sign Of The Times
I was deeply saddened by the following news pertaining to the proposition 8 that was passed in CA on Nov 4 to make the CA Constitution define marriage between male and female. On Nov 13th the LA Temple was the center of a rally against the LDS church because of its involvement of endorsing the proposition. Interesting thing is that 52% of people in CA voted yes for prop to define it as marriage between a man and woman, and only a small amount of people in that 52% were LDS. Anyhew there are articles all over the place but I feel that it has more impact when you can see what happened. So here is a link to a youtube video.

People CAN Change...
My goodness it really can be done, people can change especially me. Today Matt and I got to spend the day together so we made a day trip to DC to pick up some supplies for his deployment for next month. Matt had me drive because he is just tired of driving all the time and he will be driving to North Carolina this Wednesday night and will be there for a few days. So we drove up through Fredericksburg and then hopped onto the 95 to go north to round out to the 495. Anyhew for those of you who don't know the people who drive on the 95 are very aggressive people, and if you are not going at least 80 mph they will run you down.
WAIT! STOP! HOLD THE TYPING! Some of you are probably saying. Most of you know my driving habits and know that I am a major lead foot driver. With my 3 speeding tickets and have been known to go 100+ from the drive from Flagstaff down to Phoenix. Yes I know I am bad, but since moving to slow-ville VA where the cops will give you a ticket for going 10 over your driving habits kind of change. I usually do not go faster than 72mph on the freeway here because I am so scared to get a ticket, which the law here is not a lenient as it is in AZ. So driving on the 95 today freaked me out because I was going over 72 mph. I was very skiddish about it. Remember the screaming Dion from Clueless as she accidental went on a LA freeway when she was practicing driving, that was pretty much me. SO I have officially realized that I can change especially my driving habits.

Random Things Going On
It has nearly been one week from the Time Change that occurred last Sunday, and I am still trying to get used to it. Funny thing. I am fine waking up a 7:30 or 8am but around 12 it feels so much later than it actually is and at night I read and don't even go to bed till about 1am. Plus staying up all night to watch the results from the election didn't help in the getting to sleep earlier part. These days feels so long to me and so relaxed it is very weird trying to get used to the time change thingy.
Also Matt would have been leaving tomorrow morning but thanks to the grace of the Almighty I get to have Thanksgiving with him. So I get an extra 3 weeks with him now. YAY! So Matt gets back tonight from training he has been at all week in Northern VA and he doesn't have to leave anymore for more than 2 days. He was going to have to do some military orders but the unit said that he didn't have to so we get to spend more time together.
Other than that everything is going great here. We have rejoined the cell phone age, but are very limited on how much we can actually talk on it, so keep calling on the home phone. I am finding more and more books to read, and enjoying them very much (I know I am 26 years old and I just re-discovered the LIBRARY, AMAZING Huh.) Matt is loving his job and is excited for the work that he will start in December because he really likes the group he will be working with. And Archer, well, he likes to sleep all the time, and in my bed none the less so he is a very happy puppy. That's all folks!

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS?!?
As of last night I "officially" have 26 students! That's right 26. I am so excited. I am actually going to, for the first time since I started teaching, start a waiting list. I feel so blessed right now because I had been hoping to get just a few more students, and WHAMO! In the space of 24 hours I get 3. AMAZING!
Friday is Halloween and this year I actually had a hand in creating my costume. I asked one of the parents of my students to teach me how to sew and we made my costume. I am dressing up as Cinderella. I got it last night and it looks amazing. I even have "glass slippers." There will be pix posted of the costume on Sat so look forward to them then. The dress looks so good the seamstresses at Disney would be impressed. And Sat night we have an adult party in the neighborhood and we are required to dress up. Well I am too afraid to go outside in my Cindy dress so I decided that I was going to dress up as a character from my fav book, Twilight. Super easy costume. All I had to get were honey colored contacts, easy and dress in regular clothing. Matt is going to be the helpless human that fell in love with me. He just has to wear regular clothing since he hates to dress up. I am going to draw a crescent mark on his neck though, just for fun. Anyhew I'll have pix at the end of the week!

What the Hey with the Hay?!?
It is that time of year in the subdivision where the contractors are hunkering down for the winter by putting Hay on every speck of dirt. Well this is an allergy that I learned about last year when we were here, and I think I have known it for a while cause I usually felt like crap after hay rides when I was a kid, but boy howdy my body does not like hay. This year my adverse reaction to hay has been scratching. I woke up this morning looking like I tried to strangle myself cause I have this huge scratch mark across the front of my neck that itches like a mad dog. It is so bad that I am having to cover it with makeup to try and hide it. I even had to wear a sweater to keep myself from scratching my arms and hands. Try being the word of choice as my students asked why my neck was all red. I also won't stop sneezing. Not a very fun day at the Allen House, its been my own personal Hades.

Ours
Well after a week of hearing this same melody in my mind and then Matt telling me that I was stupid if I didn't write it down. I have finally finished my first composition. That's right folks, I, Rebbecca Allen, have actually written a song and I just finished putting it in to my computer and it actually looks like a real song, instead of my chicken scratch writing on manuscript paper. The title has been shortened to Ours cause Matt loves it and encouraged me to actually write it down. I am not sure how to put it on the computer and I probably won't until I get it copyrighted or something just to make sure that it would be safe, cause I actually did write it and I want full credit for it. Anyhew, if you want to hear it, call me and I can play it on my piano for you as I have already done from my parents and Elizabeth. Anyhew just wanted to share the news with you to let you know what I have been up to. Hope everything is going well for everyone!

I Shall Try
Ok on Sept 11 I started reading the Twilight Series. Today being the 25th I have read through the entire series twice, including the 263 pages of Midnight Sun. I know I am crazy but I read online that the author suggested that the second book be read twice to fully understand what happens without being too bias. So I figured if I have to read that twice why not read my favorite, the first book, again, and it just kind of took off from there. So I will force myself to take a break from the series, cause I could probably read them again, but no I won't. So I will do a compromise, read a church related book and some other novel, then I will allow myself to re-read the series. I know I am crazy.
Other than that not much else is going on. Matt gets back today from training and being gone for pretty much 2 weeks. I was going crazy without him for only 2 weeks, not sure how I will handle 4 months, anyhew that's all folks.

Done

I LOVED IT SO MUCH!! AND JACOB FINALLY WON ME OVER, BUT ONLY A LITTLE BIT! ~To clarify, I only liked Jacob in the end because he finally got off of Bella's back and was a FRIEND in the end. I never liked the fact of the love triangle. Edward is wayyyyyyyyyyy better in my humble opinion. Book 1 is my favorite book out of the whole saga, and I love the 263 pages of Midnight Sun, which is Twilight in Edward's perspective. You can view it here at Stephanie Meyer's website:
Scroll down to partial draft, as she said that she won't publish the actual book now because it was leaked onto the Internet early. (VERY SAD!)

Humidity Sucks!!!!
Hey everyone! Yesterday I actually took a break from reading, I know, amazing, but I kind of had to go to church. Well, I have made a couple of assessments of things that do not go well together.
Hot and Humidity are NOT the same thing, and put them together and it is even worse.
On a Hot and Humid day and there is no AC, it sucks.
Our Branch meets at the local high school. On Saturday we had a major storm roll through here and it knocked out the power in the area. Well no one remembered to reset the AC at the school until 10 minutes before church started. Outside it was already in the 80's with 75% humidity. Inside the school there were no windows to open to let any breezes in so it was very heavy and sticky for the whole 3 hours. At the end of church it looked like I had just gone swimming because my hair was soaked from sweating so much. I told the Branch Presidency that in AZ if the AC is out that school was canceled. The actually got a kick out of it since we meet at the school.
Yesterday at church I also finally had a "moment" of happiness with teaching singing time. The Jr. Primary kicked butt with singing and had a ton of fun doing it too. In Sr. primary there were only 4 of them but 1 of the boys actually sang so it was nice to have everyone finally participate.
Of Course, after church I ate and then went back to reading. I am loving the 4th book very much, but it is incredibly long!
Also a couple of weeks ago my visiting teaching partner and I had a luncheon with one of our people who is not active at all. I think we struck a very good chord with her cause she has been attending church now, and yesterday she made 2 huge helpings, like 2 9x13 size helpings of homemade Lasagna for my partner, whom she knew was having financial difficulty and was living off of food storage to get by for a family of 6. Anyhew, my partner invited me over tonight for Family night, since Matt will be out of town for training, and to enjoy some of the yummy fruits of our labors. That's really all that is going on, but I just wanted to share that last part cause that has never happened to me before, where I actually made a difference.

My Goodness
So I have had this book for about 12 hours now and I am having a very difficult time putting it down to go to sleep. I am over 300 pages into the book now and I am anxiously wanting to sleep and wake up early to start reading it again. I am so pathetic!!!! But I am totally loving the book so far!

6 Years of Marriage Togetherness & Birthday

6 years ago today is the day Matt's Grandpa asked me, 5 minutes before we entered the sealing room, "Are you sure, this is your last time to get out." I looked at Matt, and I said, "ummmm, I think I'll go out the door and across the hall to get married now." Matt was so embarrassed, but his Grandpa is the one who sealed us and was very proud of us. I have no idea what he said during the ceremony, but there are a couple of things I do remember. I remember who was in the sealing room with us. I also remember my knee was bouncing up and down and my mom put her hand on my knee and said, "Relax." Then finally getting sealed for Time and All Eternity with my wonderful husband, Matt. I am so happy with my life and where it has taken me. Matt and I were talking last night, we celebrated our Anniversary last night at the Cheesecake Factory, anyhew, I asked him if he had any idea that 6 years later we would be here in VA and where we are. We are both so happy with everything! So HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Babe! I love you and can't wait to see what comes in our future.
