Snow, Again

So we got snow again yesterday. Someone in my neighborhood said about 8.5 inches. Not bad for a "small storm." Today I started to dig out a path and a wonderful young man came over from his dad's work to help people out in our neighborhood. He dug a path our for me so that I could take Archer out, as he had to jump just to get around in the snow. Then I went over and help my neighbor dig out his driveway, and he returned the favor. Then my home teacher, Paul, who lives down the street, came down right as we Terry and I finished my driveway and Paul helped me dig out my mailbox. Then I went 2 houses down and help my single female neighbor dig out her driveway.

As I looked down the street there were many neighbors helping each other shovel driveways. I am so proud of my neighbor's and the service they provided each other. Even though it is a Sunday I still feel like everyone was doing just as our Savior would want us to do and to serve and help others. Way to go Countryside!!!

I know I haven't posted too much lately, and I wanted to let you all know that I am fine and well here VA. Matt is away for work and I am here trying to stay warm with Archer as it has been very cold here for the past week. Today was the first warm up in a few weeks.

I have wonderful friends here that keep me busy and entertained. My closest friend also happens to be my Visiting Teacher partner, and her husband is my Home Teacher and also the 2nd Counselor in our Branch. They also live about 6 houses down from me. It is actually very nice having them so close to me in relation to location and friendship.

My wonderful friends back in AZ and Alabama keep great tabs on me during the week and I look forward to their calls and text messages.

My dad just had his second knee replacement surgery this past Monday and is doing surprisingly well. He walked around the Cul-de-sac outside his home today, which is very shocking to me that he is up and about as much as he is after surgery only 4 days ago. I will say that I would prefer his great recovery and well being to what my mom suffered thru last year during this time. So that's all for now from the Allen Res.

2010

Another year gone and a new one beginning. Here's hoping that this one will be better than last year, not that it was bad but just a lot without Matt, and hopefully I will be able to spend more time with Matt at the end of this year. We have a couple of trips planned this year, including 3 weeks together this summer when Matt returns. So here is hoping that this year will be one to remember, in a good way.

Let It Snow!

Wow what a winter wonderland it is for us outside today. Matt and I have just been relaxing, tourchering the puppy by throwing him out in the snow to go potty and watching movies. Matt had to literally pull Archer out of the house on a leash and carry him to the street so that he could go potty. The snow is as tall as Archer so he has to jump around in it. And we are still going to be getting more snow.

Right now, I finally talked Matt into shoveling the snow to make a foot path from our door to the street so that I can go to my neighbor's house for a cookie swap. Matt is being such a wonderful sport about it. As long as I keep the chapstick and hot apple cider coming he will shovel the driveway for me.

We already know that church is pretty much canceled. They canceled it 2 weeks ago due to about 4 inches of snow and we currently have 2 feet of snow in our driveway. Fun for us. I don't even know if Matt will be able to safely make it to work on Monday as Charlottesville is getting slammed with even more snow than us. We shall see, but here are few pix for your viewing pleasure. Oh and I added the pix of our Thanksgiving feast. Have a great Saturday!

2009 Christmas Pix

Hey everyone. Well now you all get to see my RED hair. It is a different look for me than what you are used to but it is kind of growing on me now. Anyhew it will go back to normal after a month or so.

Last week Matt and I had our Christmas photos taken at Maymont Park in Richmond. It is a beautiful location. There is a zoo, stables, and a Japanese Garden located inside this park.
